what is a typical day of a marine biologist?
The great thing about a career in biology is how different the work is. A typical day can be hours of diving on beautiful reefs, sampling the ocean from boats and ships, working on samples in the laboratory to figuring out the results on computers or writing up the findings for publication. You may be teaching students or guiding students into the discovery research. If you love doing lots of different things, then you will find marine biology interesting and exiting.

what are the different types of jobs?
Marine biologists work in many different environments and locations. Some marine biologists have a scuba-diving certificate, which gives them the proper training certification to work under water. Marine biologists can also work in marine labs, which are specially designed indoor facilities that give a home for the marine species that they study .most marine biologist specialist in one type of species. For example, some marine biologists could be be specialists in plant life, while others can be ichthyologists, witch means that they are experts in the study of fish.
There are also different kinds of jobs. For example: A fishery biologist is a type of marine biologist who look for ways to help improve the health and lifespan of the fish. Protecting the marine environment can be another job for a marine biologist. These marine conservationists aim to sustain the ecosystem of marine environments, like green peace only they are very extreme at doing this. Some marine biologists may work in academics, as well. This can mean that they are an instructor at an institution teaching students about marine biology. They also could be involved in research projects that are being done at the school. Some academic marine biologists write textbooks on the subject or journals about their research projects.

how can we help:
We often hear of the causes of environmental issues, but do you know some solutions for ocean pollution? Many changes in the way we live could make the biggest differences on a global level as well as small steps you can take at home to save our oceans.
It's hard to clean up pollution once it has occurred, so the best plan is prevention:
Stricter government regulations on industry and manufacturing.
Renewable energy sources so off-shore drilling no longer needed.
Limit agricultural pesticides.
Proper sewage treatment.
Cut down on waste and contain landfills.

Changes to Make at Home
Surprisingly, some of the best solutions for ocean pollution can occur on the level of the individual or single home. Even if you live in a place that is completely landlocked, your actions still affect the health of the water. You've probably heard a lot about adopting a "green" lifestyle, and most of these basic tenements apply to protecting the oceans. Do your part by making these ocean-friendly choices:
Carry a reusable shopping bag instead of plastic bags.
Store food in reusable containers instead of those you throw away.
Avoid products that come with excess packaging.
Don't litter.
Recycle.
Volunteer your time to clean up a beach if you live nearby.
Visit the beach, tourism improves coastal communities.
Lobby your politicians on environmental issues.
Donate to an organization that protects the ocean.

how to become a marine biologist
A marine biologist is someone who studies all types of sea creatures, and can choose to specialize in studying large ocean animals, all the way down to microscopic organisms. Everything from whales to the plankton they eat, and everything else in between, can b e studied. Subjects important to marine biology are biology, physics, chemistry and mathematics. Marine biology includes a number of specialist disciplines and marine biologists may choose to focus their study on a particular group of animals. A bachelor’s degree in marine biology is sufficient for a number of related jobs but a PhD is usually required for independent research and university teaching. As part of their job, a marine biologist may collect and analyze biological data, study plant life, identify animal species , research environmental effects, communicate findings to the public and much more.

Boyan Slat.
Boyan Slat
Boyan slat is a Dutch inventor. He has invented a solution for the floating plastics in our sea. Boyan Slat is 22 years old, he is born on the 17th of July in 1994. He believes that the oceans can be cleaned in just ten years with his invention. Now I would like to show you an interview with Boyan Slat.

What is marine pollution?
The oceans are so big and deep that it was widely assumed that no matter how much trash and chemicals humans dumped into them, the effects would be not noticeable. People went so far in believing they found their solution. They even made a catchphrase: "The solution to pollution is dilution."
Today, we need look no further than the New Jersey-size dead zone that forms each summer in the Mississippi River Delta, or the thousand-mile-wide swath of decomposing plastic in the northern Pacific Ocean to see that this "dilution" solution has made the sea a giant trash bank and people are starting to think that instead of throwing their trash in an trash can they can throw in in the sea because it will end up there eventually.
Human activity is destroying our oceans and the life that they contain. While some pollution occurs directly in or at the edge of the ocean from ships and coastal communities, a majority of it comes from land and air pollution that may occur miles and miles away. The biggest causes of ocean pollution include:
Oil spills and leaks.
Agricultural runoff and pesticides.
Industrial waste.
Trash dumping, espeically plastic.
Air pollution and acid rain.
Sewage and sludge
To become a marine biologist, you will need a high level of education. You’ll need a degree, a master’s or a PhD in marine biology, which you can study for at many universities. I will list some of the best universities down below:
Duke, the university of Durham in North Carolina.
Brown, university providence in the rhode islands.
University of California La, in La California.
College of William and Mary, Williamsburg in Verginia.University of Boston, Boston Massachusetts.
To apply for a course, you can expect to need five exame subjects and three A-levels in subjects like English, maths, science and biology. You might need a PhD, and certainly a master’s will help your career chances. Some employers only accept PhD doctorates or students. Marine biologists must be passionate and very knowledgeable in their field, with excellent observational skills and a curious mind. You must also have good teamworking skills and a careful, precise approach to your work. A good level of general fitness, including good eyesight and, ideally, the ability to swim well are also useful.
