Transcript of Beagles

Beagles Hound A hound is a type of dog that likes to hunt. President Lyndon B. Johnson had a beagle for a pet This is a picture of my beagle with a heart shaped spot. Fun Fact! The Beagles name comes from the french words for "open throat" because of the breeds melodious howl. A beagle is a very popular breed. A lot of family's have this dog in the United States because they do very well with children. Beagles are about 15 inches tall and and weigh no more than 30 pounds. Beagles are short haired dogs and they are usually a combination of brown, black, white, and tan. Most beagles tend to live to be 12-15 years- longer then most dog breeds. They often develope back problems as they get older. Beagles get fat very easily so you have to be careful not to overfeed your beagle so he or she can live a longer life. Even though beagles are small, they like a lot of room to run around in. They perfure a bigger yard with a lot of open space. Beagles are very adventurous and are friendly and gentle. They love the company of other people and their owners. They also love to play with other dogs. Beagles are ancient. They were used in England in the fifteenth century as hunters for rabbits and other small game. So cute!
