How to create Context Diagrams
A way of graphically representing a system with
one
process.
What is a Context Diagram?
The Process
(The information
system)
This has 3 main symbols:
E.G. An ATM System
- A Context Diagram can only have ONE process! (Circle)
- It is DIFFERENT to a DFD (Data Flow Diagram)
- The Process = The information system being used
- They can be drawn in whichever way you want, so long as the basic rules are followed! (The busier it looks, the better!)
Remember:
The flow line
(Flow of data)
The External Entity
(Gives or receives data)
