His Theories
In roughly 660 B.C. Pythagoras theorized that the world was round not flat, and also that it was suspended in space.Pythagoras was also the first man to use the greek word Kosmos, meaning harmony, to describe the universe, because he believed that everything in the universe was in a perfect, delicate balance.

Wait, What?
Now you're all probably asking how does this have anything to do with Pythagoras' theorem? Well Pythagoras' theorem was used to create a tool called a sextant.
What's a sextant
A sextant is a doubly reflecting navigation instrument used to measure the angle between any two visible objects. The principle of the instrument was first implemented around 1730 by John Hadley (1682–1744) and Thomas Godfrey (1704–1749) but it was also found later in the unpublished writings of Isaac Newton (1643–1727).
And from the sextant
The sextant was the first step to other great innovations such as gps, Wifi access points, cell towers, and even some more advanced telescopes use Triangulation.
Modern Day
Pythagoras' contributions to modern day astronomy have made a massive difference, if not for him we may not even have been to space yet. Almost all modern astronomy is based off of Pythagoras' work and theorem.
The birth of Pythagoras
Pythagoras was born in 680 B.C. He was born on the island of Samos in the Aegean sea. He was born into a rich aristocratic family, to the parents Parthenis and Mnesarchus.
