Transcript of mary

Mary, the first disciple a christian disciple does not always
understand the cost but is faithful to
the invitation of God. a christian disciple shares joy and sorrow with others.
in luke 1:26-38 mary does not understand what god wants from her and does not understand the consequences but she still assents to the invitation because of her faithfulness to god. this is shown in luke 1:39-45
where mary visits her cousin,
delivered now from the curse
of barrenness as she acclaims
mary to be the mother of the
messiah. a christian disciple proclaims
the justice of god. mary is procclaimed as the mother
of the lord and is considered to be
a queen mother among middle
eastern royalty. a christian disciple knows that
faithfulness will involve suffering jesus was circumcised and mary underwent
a ritual of purification after giving birth. an old
man called Simeon told mary that she would
suffer greatly on behalf of her son. a christian disciple does not always
understand things that happen. he or
she must reflect, pray and sometimes
accept that they do not understand for
the time being. mary did not fully understand that jesus
had a particular understanding that god
was his father but she said she treasured
all these things in her heart. a christian disciple guides others
in obedience in the call of christ jesus turned water to wine and this was
the first sign of the creative power of god
in him. mary told jesus to do whatever
god tells him, and this became a word of
advice to early christian disciples. a christian disciple is faithful to the end
even when the end seems to be a failure.
a christian disciple continues to hope,
even in the face of death. mary stood at the foot of the cross and
watched her son die. she was presented
as a representative of the new church that
would form after jesus' death. a christian disciple draws support and strength
from the christian community and is guided by
the holy spirit. mary and the disciples received the holy
spirit after the death of jesus and she was
present in jerusalem with the support and
strength from the disciples.
