Online communities allow somebody to stay conencted with others very easily from day to day.
The reach of communication that social media can achieve is amazing, being international.
Able to find a certain person by just typing their name into a search bar.
Much more inexpensive to keep up to date with family and friends.
The amount of people that are signed in on a social network is huge, making it very easy to make new friends.
Social media is a big part of business as well, organizations make alot of money from the internet. Disadvantages of Social Media With all the benefits of being able tp communicate easily with social media related items, it's been said that we are losing the ability of actually having a face to face conversation.
Even though on a certain website you may have many "friends" on your profile, how many do you actually know good enough to think of them as a friend?
Some people have bad intentions when creating a online webiste, indentity theft is very common.
Online predators are also a threat as they can access your personal information by clicking on your profile.
Easily be distracted by virtual online games, videos, pictures .. etc and can be glued to your desk for hours.
Alot of information found on webistes can be incorrect and edited by others. Naina. "The Pros and Cons of Social Networking | Buzzom." Social Media Encyclopedia | Buzzom. 20 May 2011.
