The National Basket Association was born from the junction of the Basketball Association of America (BAA) and the National Basketball League (NBL) on August 3rd, 1949. Initially, there were only 17 teams. Word done by:

He took the concept from a game known as duck-on-a-rock in the school, which consisted in attempting to knock a “duck” off the top of a large rock by tossing a rock at it. The World of work This sport offers a future for a lot of teenagers that live in the suburbs, living and breathing basketball, since, in the US, colleges give more or less 50,000 scholarships annually to the ones who are really good and have a chance to play in the NBA, or who are good enough to play at a college level. Science in the NBA Science plays a big role in the world of sports, since it helps to search and provide the best materials for shoes and balls, or, in the case of basketball, by calculating how a ball should be thrown to score or whether it should be dribbled to decrease the power that a player needs to apply in order to lose stamina. All this is made possible by means of science and research which teaches us the best ways to do things in order to achieve better results. Origin of the NBA Charity In 2005, the NBA launched its NBA Cares social responsibility program. To date, through NBA Cares, over $210 million has been donated by NBA teams and players to charity. Additionally, 2.3 million hours of community service have been completed through NBA Cares. Over All-Star weekend, those numbers increased. While many teams and leagues have charity arms, the NBA’s commitment to its NBA Cares program as something that shapes its business model, was clearly apparent during All-Star week. Nearly every event held throughout the week had a charity component to it–whether it was through All-Star players and coaches rolling up their sleeves to perform community service in Houston, or the NBA’s partners sponsoring events throughout the week and in doing so, pledging donations to charity. Marketing in the NBA Commercials and marketing are two of NBA’s most important areas, since most of the money that supports the franchises comes from selling products like equipment, bags, and hats, that combined with the tickets for the games make it possible to have teams like the Chicago Bulls averaging profits of $55 million a year, for the past 5 years, making them the most profitable franchise in the NBA in the last years. Of course, we also have the reverse of the coin with Charlotte Bobcats averaging -$12 million per year. Brands created by NBA players One of the most iconic branded item that we relate to basketball are the Air Jordan shoes, a brand that was created by Nike, in association with the basketball legend Michael Jordan. This brand revolutionized the NBA by adding colors to basketball sneakers, for the first time in history, even though that was prohibited by the association. Recently Nike has been creating (in association with other iconic players, like Kobe Bryant), new brands or lines of shoes trying to follow its path, but none of them has achieved the size and the fame of the Air Jordan shoes. Multiculturalism in the NBA NBA has players from around the world. As a universal sport that basket is, he can join together more than 30 countries only the 2012-13 season. Between these we can encounter countries like Canada, France and Serbia. Diet of NBA players All NBA players have to follow a restrict diet and workout sessions with a respective schedule with each certain deadlines that they have to follow. From getting out of bed, to the food they eat on their airplane or hotel while they're out of home playing other matches. Basketball isn't just between the four lines of the court, it is a way of living trough union, friendship and devotion, with this work we hope that you understood this side of the sport we love, and almost worship, so we hope you enjoyed it!
