Muscular System
cardio means "heart" in Greek the Skeletal Muscles:
Function: controls voluntary
movements such as your pupils dialating.

Made up of: connective tissue,
muscle fiber, blood vessels,and nerves.

skeletal muscles
are also know as striated muscles because of how
slender they are.

Smooth Muscles:
Made up of:muscles are spindle shaped, have one nucleus, and have no striations.

Function: These muscles help move the food through the digestive system. Cardiac Muscles:

Made up of: Cardiac muscles have striations and one or two nuclei.

Function: It helps the heart punpd blood throughout the body. Neck muscles hold the head up and move it in all directions Biceps straighten the arm. Thigh muscles move the lower leg. Calf muscles pull the knee up and piont the toes. abdominal muscles move the torso and help with breathing. Diseases And Disorders cramp-prolonged pianful involuntary contraction
of skeletal muscles. It can cause pain and
inability to perform specific tasks. Muscular Dystrophy-is a group of genetic diseases
that cause the muscle fibers t op become easily
damaged.
The effects are that the muscles weaken, there is a lack of coordinaion, and loss of mobility.
Homeostasis Muscles help maintiain temperature in the
body by generating energy.Muscles make it possible to stand, sit, speak, and blink. Even more, were it not for muscles, blood would not rush through blood vessels, air would not fill lungs, and food would not move through the digestive system.
Careers Chiropractors: also referred to as chiropractic doctors, believe that many health problems are linked directly to problems of the muscular, nervous and skeletal systems. By using manipulations concentrated on the spinal column and vertebras, chiropractors try to relieve any stresses that may be affecting the nervous system. Which can cause a variety of things.Students must complete at least 2 years of undergraduate study. To become a licensed, students must also complete a 4-year chiropractic college course.
How it works with other systems Digestive-It works with this sytem by help the food move through the body using the intestine and the esophagus

Repiratory-it works with this system by helping the lungs expand and contract so you can breath.

Skeletal-It helps this system move and do everyday activities. Compartment Syndrome
Compartment syndrome occurs when too much pressure builds up in and around the muscles. It can result from crushing injuries, extended pressure on a blood vessel, swelling inside a cast or complications from surgery. Symptoms include severe pain, a feeling of fullness or tightness in the muscle and a tingling sensation. Numbness indicates cellular death and it may be difficult to restore full function once it reaches that point. Surgery to relieve the pressure is usually required. The major organs

Smooth, Cardiac and, Skeletal Muscles The main function of the mucular system is
to help the body to move and regulate temperature. Current Research The National Institute of Neurological Disorders and Stroke (NINDS) supports a broad program of research on MD, also know as Muscular Dystrophy. The goals of these studies are to increase understanding of MD and its causes, develop better therapies, and, ultimately, find ways to prevent and cure it. Interesting Facts
