Transcript of Daft Punk
Daft punk is an electric music group that consists of two people. The duo are no other than Guy-Manuel de Homem-Christo and Thomas Bangalter. These two were both born in Paris, France and met each other at school in 1987. Before Daft punk was created these two were in a band called "Darlin' "which was inspired by the bands "The Beach Boys" and "The Rolling Stones". The band consisted of three members: Laurent Brancowitz,
Thomas Bangalter, and Guy-Manuel de Homem-Christo. After getting negative reviews from magazines they decided to disband. However Guy-Manuel de Homem-Christo and Thomas Bangalter decided to stay together and form a new group called "Daft Punk". Daft punk started to gain popularity in the late 1990s house movement in France. To present day Daft Punk is know as an essential in making the French House genre popular while adding a few Synthpop remixes to make it even more amazing.
Guillaume Emmanuel de Homem-Christo (As know as Guy-Manuel de Homem-Christo) was born the 8th of Febuary, 1974. He is currenty living at the age of 39. His birth place was in Paris, France suburb of Neuilly-sur-Seine ( close to the centre of Paris.) Guy-Manuel de Homem-Christo though born in Paris, france comes from the Portuguese descent. At the age of 14 he was given his first electric guitar. He had a very keen interest in music and he would use his guitar to write it all the time. In the year 1987 he went to school with Thomas Bangalter. In their old band "Darlin' " he played the guitar. After the band broke up because of a comment from a british magazine that called them "a daft punky thrash" he decided to try again. The new band got their new name from what the magazine had called them. To this day Guy-Manuel de Homem-Christo is married and has two children. While he is settled he still continues to amaze the world with his music.
Thomas Bangalter was born the 3rd of January, 1975. Like Guillaume Emmanuel de Homem-Christo he is 39 years old. He owns his own music label called Roulé . Not only is Thomas Bangalter an amazing song writer but he is also a film director and cinematographer. He was born in Paris, France in a unknow area. At the age of six Thomas Bangalter started to play the piano. His parents made sure that he would practice and never give up. Currently Thomas Bangalter is married to French Actress Élodie Bouchez and has two sons named: Tara-Jay and Roxan. He used to live in Hollywood but returned to paris even though Daft Punk's creative offices remain in Los Angeles.
Daft punk releases it's first album called "Homework" and their success starts.
The creation of their second album Discovery started in 1999 at finished in 2001. This album added a more synthpop-oriented style which got daft punk many more fans. The album was so great that in 2003 there was an animated movie made with it called "Interstella 5555: The 5tory of the 5ecret 5tar 5ystem ". The song "Face to Face" hit #1 in the USA club play charts despite a limited single release.
In 2001 the album called "Alive 1997" was released containig 45 minutes of live performance. This performance was part of Daft punk's Daftendirektour. On the 2001 French Albums Chart is was #25 which was a really high for only an 45 minute performance.
Daft Club was releashed in 2003 and included remixed from it's old tracks "Discovery" and "Homework". The album was named after Daft punk's online music service and contained over 73 minutes and 17 seconds of remixies of other songs they had previously made.
Daft punk released it's final record with Virgin records called "Human after all". The album was criticized to be a rushed album but many people in the UK claimed that it still had some amazing tracks such as: "Technologic" and "Robot Rock".
The first anthology was created and called Musique Vol. 1 1993–2005. The songs included in the album include: "Da Funk", "Around the World", "Burnin'", "Revolution 909", "One More Time", "Harder, Better, Faster, Stronger", "Something About Us", "Robot Rock", "Technologic", "Rollin'and Scratchin' " ,"The Prime Time of Your Life" and "Robot Rock". This Album included the biggest hits from the first album to the current 2005.
Releashed in 2007 the album "Alive 2007" was considered a sequel to "Alive 1997". Like Alive 1997 this album also included live content from daft punk. Unlike Alive 1997, Alive 2007 had 84 minutes and 3 seconds of footage. The album recieved a Grammy Award for Best Electronic/Dance Album. This was a very big step forward for Daft Punk.
In 2010 Daft punk releshed their new sound track that was featured in the movie: "Tron: Legacy". The sound track was a hit not only getting the movie great reviews but giving Daft punk even more fame. Many people did not notice this but, Daft punk even made a cameo apperence in the movie as DJ's.
Daft Punk just recently releashed their new latest album called "Random Access Memories". In this album there are some of Daft punk's greatest hits such as "Get Lucky" and "Instant Crush". With the song "Get lucky" Daft punk manged to make it to the top 10 of billboard. Daft punk has many plans to release more albums in 2014 which was confirmed in recent interviews.
Importance in Canada:
Daft Punk has inspired people to never give up and to remember that failure is never an option. Daft Punk has inspired many new artists looking for a chance. One example is the Youtbe Channel "PTXofficial". They have one remix of some of Daft punks greatest songs. They reached almost 40,000,000 views alone on that one video.
