Transcript of Bamboo

Bamboo! Shane Bowers Bamboo is used in Chinese medicine for treating infections and healing. The Chinese use the sap and leaves of bamboo, and also shavings of bamboo, to help relieve a variety of different flu/cold symptoms. Probably the biggest use of bamboo in ancient China, and China today, is in art. Bamboo is believed to be a symbol virtue, and so the Chinese include it in many of the artsitic works. Besides being a symbol of virtue, bamboo was believed to be endowed with soul and emotion. Also, one of the world's endangered species, Giant Pandas thrive on bamboo. , Pandas can eat anywhere from 20-3o punds of bamboo stalks a day! Bamboo is the main food of the Giant Panda; it makes up 99% of the Panda's diet OMG OMG OMG LOL LOL LOL LOL Pandas Are Sooo CUTTEEEEE (: Other animals that eat bamboo are the Red Panda from Nepal, the Mountain Gorillas of Africa, Chimpanzees, Elephants, and even Rats! Bamboo was also used as a form of paper in ancient China. They earliest recovered document using bamboo paper dates back to 5th Century B.C.! Bamboo or wooden strips were the standard writing material during the Han dynasty! Bamboo is even used to filter the salt out of water using a bamboo filter! Bamboo is truly a widespread resource in China, they use it to build frames for bicycles! WOW!!!
