It is an education level taken in order to gain one's first tertiary degree - an undergraduate degree.
Require for students to have A-levels (GCE Advanced Level).
Apply through Universities and Colleges Admissions Service (UCAS).
The difference between a college and a university is that a college just offers a collection of degrees in one specific area while a university is a collection of colleges.
The most common type of this degree is the bachelor's degree, which typically takes at least three or four years to complete.
Offer sandwich courses.
United Kingdom universities are better described as autonomous / independent institutions with public funding which means all students, even those from the poorest backgrounds.
There are many different postgraduate qualifications available - they generally require applicants to have undertaken some previous study or experience in the chosen field, usually an undergraduate degree.
Overall, it is clearly seen that full-time postgraduate courses in the UK vary from one year to four years, depending on the type of course you choose:
One-year courses: Postgraduate Certificate/Diploma, Master's degrees, MBAs
Two-year courses: Some master's degrees
Three to four-year courses: PhDs, New Route PhDs
