a virus
invades outer layer of skin
infects cells
causes cells to grow and reproduce rapidly
warts, cervical cancers, STDs
many are harmless growth of hard rough skin
common, plantar, flat, filiform, and periungal warts
commonly on hand or feet
virus can enter your body through a small scratch or cut
shaking hands, opening doors, borrowing shoes, etc can expose you to the virus
most warts go away on their own-our bodies are made to fight off viruses!
salicylic acids like ducktape
freezing the wart-cryotherapy
over the counter meds
surgically remove the wart-electrosurgery, curettage, laser surgery
The virus Human Papillomavirus isn't useful. Most of the time it creates small warts, but it can also create more serious problems, like cervical cancer and STDs. Some researchers say that getting common warts helps to strengthen our immune systems, but either way the treatments are damaging to skin cells. This influences our world and humans by making us more aware of how important it is to protect your self from viruses. Hopefully human will be careful about cleaning cuts no matter how small and washing them thoroughly. This virus is a great example of how important it is to protect your body.
small bump of skin
some centers are darker due to blood vessels
skin's lines make the wart look folded
usually painless but applying pressure can cause discomfort
