Fertility and Contraception Issues
How Will I Do During Pregnancy?
Do you have Lupus? Rheumatoid arthritis? Psoriatic arthritis?
Any inflammatory arthritis?

Learn how your condition and the medications you are on can affect your fertility and plans of having a baby.

What are my chances of getting pregnant?

Rheumatoid arthritis

Symptoms often improve
during pregnancy but may flare up after delivery.

Usually both mother and baby do not have any complications.

Most women with lupus can have uncomplicated pregnancies. Lupus requires careful monitoring but often does not flare during or after pregnancy.

Complications such as low birth weight, fetal loss, and preterm delivery are mostly associated with antiphospholipid syndrome if present
In general,
rheumatic disease
does not

impair fertility.

Unless you have other
fertility problems
or were treated with
, your
likelihood of conceiving
should be about the
as other women of your age.
