The year the decision was made

2014
: On June 25th, The Supreme Court decided in favor of the broadcasters in a 6-3 decision and remanded the case.
The Court ruled that the service provided by Aereo, violated copyright laws.
The implications of the decisons
- Violation of several international treaties:
Aereo's functioning may have infringed international treaties that prevent the retransmission of broadcast signals over the Internet without their copyright holder's consent.

"Given the limited nature of this holding, the Court does not believe its decision will discourage the emergence or use of different kinds of technologies"
Impact and effect on citizens
The were no effect on citizen after the U.S Court decision on ABC v. Aereo.

Aereo's services were suspended on June 28 at 11:30 a.m. EDT and the company filed for Chapter 11 bankruptcy on November 21, 2014.
What the case was about
Aereo
developed a system that allowed its customers to watch free, over-the-air television broadcasts over the Internet.

- 2012
: March 1, Aereo was sued for copyright infringement by major broadcasters, including
CBS Corporation's CBS, Comcast's NBC, Disney's ABC and 21st Century Fox's Fox.
They claimed that Aereo i
