A certain amount of body fat is necessary for storing energy, heat insulation, shock absorption, and other functions.

Environmental factors.

What Causes obesity?

In just a few decades, there has been a 7% to 18% increase in obese children 6-11 and 5% to 18% increase in obese adolescents over a 30 year time span.

Being overweight as a child increases the risk of many types of cancer as an adult. 

Overweight children can also suffer from other conditions like joint problems, sleep apnea, and poor self-esteem.

How do you know if you are obese?
Obesity is best defined by using the body mass index. The body mass index is calculated using a person's height and weight.

Physical Treatment
Physical activity and exercise help burn calories. The amount of calories burned depends on the type, duration, and intensity of the activity.
