Transcript of S1.S2.S3 How to make a sentence in Spanish

How put together a sentence in Spanish?
A sentence must have:
SUBJECT
+
VERB
+
COMPLEMENT
ENG: Subject (she) + Verb (walks) + Complement (in the park)
SHE
WALKS
IN THE PARK.
SPA: Subject (él) + Verb (camina) + Complement (en el parque)
ELLA
CAMIN
A

EN EL PARQUE.
If the sentence has to verbs
( Pedro wants to walk) only
the first verb
is conjugated.
Not the second.
Pedro
+
necesit
a

+
camin
ar
+
en el parque
(Pedro
+
needs
+
to walk
+
in the park)

WRONG:(
Pedro necesit
a
camin
a
en el parque.
(both verbs are conjugated = wrong!).
or
Pedro
quer
er
camin
ar
.
(here, none of the verbs is conjugated = wrong!)
So Spanish sentences are like in English!
Peter needs to walk in the park
(S+
Vconj.
+
V no conj
+ complement).
Pedro

necesita
caminar
en el parque
.
For making questions, just put
interrogation
at the beginning and at the end of the sentence
¿ ?
¿ Pedro camin
a
en el parque? (one verb)

Peter (does not)
walks
in the park?
¿Pedro
quiere
camin
ar
por el parque? ( 2 verbs)
Does Peter want to walk in the park?
SUBJECT
: Who acts
Subject can be:
A proper name (Peter = Pedro)
A noun ( father = papá)
A pronoun ( he = él)

The Verb (action) always conjugated depending on the subject:
(S) Pedro +
(V)
camina

Peter walks

The Complement
tell us where, how, when, etc.
Pedro

camina

en el parque
.
Peter

walks

in the park
