July 2011: Place order for all GE Energy Smart Light Bulbs
2011-2015 June 2011: Replace all incandescent light bulbs with GE energy Smart Light Bulbs July 2011: Order Nalgene Tritan Wide-Mouth Everyday Bottles for every student and teacher for the upcoming year August 2011: Put plastic bottle and paper recycling bins in every room. Also, issue Nalgene Water Bottles to every student and teacher. August 2012: Introduce composting in the cafeteria. June 2013: Replace all hand dryers and paper towels dispensers with Dyson Air Blade Hand Dryers Place order for Segways. We are replacing 50% of security carts with Segways as a trial, and if the trial is successful, then we will ultimately replace almost all security carts. June 2014: Replace 50% of security patrol carts with Segways. June 2015: Replace paper textbooks and workbooks with online options for Student Computers. The Mission

Our mission is to make MICDS a more eco-friendly place. By increasing the efficiency of our resources and fully utilizing them, our school can become "greener" and make the students more aware of the environmental effects that result from their actions. By reducing waste, increasing light bulb efficiency, recycling, decreasing plastic bottle use, and converting our transportation energy sources, we hope to make students more aware of their environmental footprint and reduce the school's footprint as a whole.
