Transcript of King George III

King George III King George III was born on June 4, 1738 in London, the eldest son of Frederick, Prince of Wales, and Princess Augusta of Saxe-Gotha. He became heir to the throne on the death of his father in 1751, succeeding his grandfather, George II, in 1760. He taxed the colonists unfairly, because he needed money for the French and Indian War. One tax that he made was the Stamp Act, which was when he taxed paper goods. King George III was the British King during the Revoulutionary War and he ruled from 1760-1820. He also taxed tea in 1773. Colonists in Boston got mad and threw the tea into a river. Since he treated them unfairly the Revolutionary War started. Later on he surrendered and gave the colonists their freedom.
