1. INTRODUCTION
1.1 ABSTRACT:
In a company where the hierarchy of employees spans over thousand managing the work with them is a difficult job. And in an environment where number of jobs is done simultaneously picking the right person for the job is also difficult task, as you are not aware of their availability. This application is designed for such an environment where the work is divided into group of employees and during the course of division the employees are selected to be part of the work in hand.
This software being a web based is easily accessible from any corner of the company as every machine is part of a LAN network. The reason why it is made as a web application rather than a window based application if for the same reason. The complete task is divided into two types of users. Administrator (Highest authority), Manager (working group Community). The activities underlying these sections are as per the company policies.
This application provides most of the features required to manage the tasks developed in a firm by using asp.net platform by using c# language as a front end and also by using Microsoft SQL server 2008 database as a back end.

1. INTRODUCTION
1.2 PURPOSE:
The main objective of this document is to illustrate the requirements of the project titled Project Management System. The document gives the detailed description of the both functional and non-functional requirements. The final product of the team will be meeting the requirements of this document. The management of various tasks related to projects is very essential for smooth functioning as well as success of a project. The same becomes cumbersome for a person when he has multiple projects at hand. The project management system simplifies this situation by managing all the activities related to projects as well as communications related with the same.

1.3 PROJECT SCOPE:
As per we suggesting our project requirements & analytics through which you will be able to run our project anywhere you want. Our project is implemented using ASP.NET 4.0 with C# as code behind language using SQL Server 2008 as Database Management System or Back-End tool. We will provide you better functionality through this website. Our Project will work in many environments due to its .NET Configuration.
This project is basically a web application that allows its registered users to manage all the projects that they are associated with as a project manager, employee or customer. Management of project includes management of all project documents, project scheduling, cost and resource management and communication related with the same. It allows users to have detailed periodic project progress report.

2. OVERALL DESCRIPTION 
2.1 PRODUCT PERSPECTIVE:

In this age of multitasking, people are involved in more than one project simultaneously. It becomes difficult to be up to date with the development of all projects. Hence, the concept of a single system that manages all projects is certainly welcomed.

 2.2 PRODUCT FEATURES:
Login page should be accessible by accessing the domain name.
A new user should be allowed to sign up after filling the sign up form.
If incorrect login attempted three times then user should be informed by e-mail and SMS.
Password should be encrypted by md5 hashing.
A user must be allowed to reset password. Forgotten password should be handled via SMS.
On valid login, user should be redirected to his account.
Account page should give a role wise list of all projects. Each project should be accessible from this page

The users of this web application are people who are involved in project as a customer, manager or an employee. All their projects are managed according to the role they play in the project.

Designing issues related to this site will be applicable as in help manual. Users must follow our Project guidance tips for using this site easily. This is not Open Source; hence nobody can change this site. Implementation of this site is regarding to customer report about our project reviews. This will be applicable as per Administrator decides.

This will be provided by authorized personnel of the site builder. User Documentation used for rights management as per users’ role of using this site. This will be decided by Administrator of site.

MODULES IN THE PMS:

ADMINSTRATOR:-
Description: In these Administrator means the person who is managing the entire website.

EMPLOYEE MODULE:-
Description: Provides different tasks as well as the employees associated with the work. Provides instant status of the involvements of a person in the task Security to the confidential information.

APPLICATION MODULE:-
Description: An application module Provides definition of the different projects and act as a intermediate between admin and projects, and employees and projects.

TASKS MODULE:-
Description: Each Employee will be assigned different tasks like Designing, coding, testing and database etc. At the end of the Week or month the administrator will see the status of the respective employees and their completed work.

3. SYSTEM FEATURES 
3.3 VALIDATION OF DATA ENTERED BY THE USER AND ERROR HADLING:
In this module, the validity of data entered by the user during the various processes is checked through various checks. For example, there shouldn’t be any characters entered in the numeric field, likewise if there is any error occurs that it should handle that particular error and given the required message.
