Brian is a 47 year old male who is at the emergency room after becoming violently ill within an hour of eating a ham sandwich at a company picnic. he reports that he began vomiting and then experienced diarrhea and abdominal cramps
temperature: 97.4F
blood pressure: 120/85
heart rate: 72 bpm
Probable Pathogen
The symptoms, information, and time period lead me to believe that the pathogen staphylococcus was ingested and entered the body through a ham sandwich which was kept to long at room temperature.
My diagnosis
Brian has Staphylococcus.
Prevention
You can prevent staphylococcus by refrigerating food properly.
Treatment
Brian needs to undergo antimicrobial therapy.
