Practices of Definitive Preparation
I used p1 in this project. P1 is writing and speaking clearly for different purposes and diverse audiences. I created a report on connections that connects with many different subjects and people in the world and at Parish.
Also, I used p9 when I came up with a text-to-world connection. I researched the statistics of alcohol abuse in 2013. I learned a lot about how bad alcohol could be.
Finally, I used p7 when I created an outline for the connections. I researched statistics for alcohol and looked through the book Wonder for the text-to-text connection.

To Kill A Mockingbird Connections
Text-to-Self

Jem began to mature as the book continued. He aspired to be seen as mature and a gentlemen. This reminds me of when I got into the 7th grade and was able to do school sports and activities. I felt like I ruled the whole school even though I was still young. We all thought we were so cool to be a true middle schooler, and we acted a lot more advanced.

Text-to-World
• This reminds me of Bob Ewell as an alcoholic, and how it affects his everyday decisions. He had the guts to spit in Atticus's face, beat up Mayella, not provide or take care of his family, and accuse an innocent man of a major crime. Today, 43% of men and 29% of women are binge drinkers. 1 and 4 people are alcoholics in 2013. Alcohol affects your resistance to bad choices and decisions. Many people today would rather enjoy their night and suffer the consequences late just like Bob Ewell.

When Scout started at school she struggled because the teacher called her out for knowing how to read, and she purely disliked Scout. This reminds me of when I was in 1st grade because I enjoyed reading and doing work, so I did work ahead of time. The teacher got mad at me, but I still did my regular routine of working ahead. It worked best for me, so that is how I was going to do it.

Auggie Pullman from the book Wonder was a very shy
isolated kid. This reminds me of Boo Radley. Boo stayed in his house all alone for so long, he had completely lost his social skills. Auggie returned to school and was alone and had no social skills. Auggie and Boo were outcasts in their lives. As both books went on, the characters grew socially and literally. Boo saved Jem and socialized with the Finches, and Auggie made a great group of friends.
