Transcript of CFOR 101 (Fa '16) T16 - Learn to Fly in the Fellowship

Part 3 Belong to His Body (fellowship)
Learn to Fly in the Fellowship (ch. 13)
Characteristics of Fellowship
Draw two circles so that they partially overlap. Title one circle "New Testament Fellowship." Title the other circle "Modern Church Fellowship."
Carrying the Weak
Heb. 3:12-13 (ESV), "Take care, brothers, lest there be in any of you an evil, unbelieving heart, leading you to fall away from the living God. But exhort one another every day, as long as it is called "today," that none of you may be hardened by the deceitfulness of sin."
What is needed to transform a “community regular” into a covenant community?
Who is called to do something in Heb. 3:12-13? Why?
How can you serve as a tangible means of God’s grace for a spiritually weak and fragile believer in your church?
6 Lessons in Good Listening
- Romans 10:17
Romans 10:17 (ESV), So faith comes from hearing, and hearing through the word of Christ.
Lord, make us a people who want to hear.
A fourth-grade teacher once asked her class, “What is listening?” After a few moments of silence, one little girl raised her hand. “Listening,” she said, “is wanting to hear.”
"The discipline of silence before God and people relates to the practice of self-control; the more we develop inner control and composure, the less we will feel compelled to gain outward control over people and circumstances." (Ken Boa,

Write the distinctive characteristics of each kind of church fellowship in the appropriate circle. Write the characteristics of fellowship both churches share in the overlapping section.
What, if anything, did you write in the overlapping section?
How might the Christian life today be different if the church as a whole thought of fellowship as the NT church did?
