Nick Vujicic- My Inspirational Person
Transcript of Nick Vujicic- My Inspirational Person
Who is Nick Vujicic?
Nick Vujicic was born to Dushka and Boris Vujicic in 1982 in Melbourne, Australia. Although he was an otherwise healthy baby, Nick was born without arms and legs; he had no legs, but two small feet, one of which had two toes. Nick has two siblings, Michelle and Aaron. Initially, a Victoria state law prevented Nick from attending a mainstream school due to his physical disability in spite of a lack of mental impairment. However, Nick became one of the first physically disabled students integrated into a mainstream school once those laws changed. However, his lack of limbs made him a target for school bullies, and he fell into a severe depression.
Nick gradually figured out how to live a full life without limbs, adapting many of the daily skills limbed people accomplish without thinking. Nick writes with two toes on his left foot and a special grip that slid onto his big toe. He knows how to use a computer and can type up to 45 words per minute using the "heel and toe" method. He has also learned to throw tennis balls, play drum pedals, get a glass of water, comb his hair, brush his teeth, answer the phone and shave, in addition to participating in golf, Soccer, Swimming, Skateboarding and even sky-diving.
When he was seventeen, he started to give talks at his prayer group, and later founded his non-profit organization, Life Without Limbs.
What He’s been up to…
Nick Vujicic spent the past year traveling to 24 countries, such as Malaysia, Thailand, and Singapore, to Mexico, Columbia, Ecuador, telling packed audiences worldwide the story of how he overcame seemingly insurmountable physical obstacles to deliver a message of hope, love and the power of Jesus Christ. Nick reaches to people by telling them how special they are, and telling them to never give up on their dreams because if he had given up on his dream due to his physical condition, he wouldn’t have been where he is standing right now. Usually by the end of Nick’s inspirational speeches, more than half of the crowd is filled with tears in their eyes.
The power of Nick’s Evangelism drew an estimated total face to face audience of 400,000 people throughout the outreach, including audiences as large as 35,000 in Ho Chi Minh. An estimated 400 million worldwide heard Nick’s Message through TV broadcast and other Medias. Nick’s Story and message are resonating worldwide, generating more than 318,000 followers on Twitter and 3.1 million likes on Facebook. Nick was also able to communicate with an audience via Television appearance on 60 Minutes, The Oprah Winfrey Network, and elsewhere.
People He has Inspired
Nick has inspired people from all over the world. Students, parents, orphans, people with disabilities, police officers and cadets, even all the way to Presidents of many countries such as Ecuador, Uruguay, and Dominican Republic…
What drew Nick Vujicic to such an ambitious mission?
Nick Answered: “When I was 13 I read a newspaper article about a disabled man who had managed to achieve great things and help others, I realized why God had made us like this - to give hope to others. It was so inspirational to me that I decided to use my life to encourage other people and give them the courage that the article had given me.”
Were is Nick Vujicic Now?
Nick is now married to a beautiful woman and recently had their first child. He continues to bring hope and encourage people to love themselves and have faith in Jesus. He visits many high schools to encourage the students to have big dreams and to never give up on it.
Why is He my Inspirational Person?
I chose Nick Vujicic as my Inspirational person because he was born with no arms and no legs – but he didn’t let this stop him. Instead he made something Good out of it by reaching out to the world to give Hope and courage to everyone he met on his path. To me, that is inspirational.
