What is Cerebral Palsy?
Cerebral Palsy is a group of disabilities that makes the person's body move differently. They call this cerebral palsy because cerebral means "brain" and palsy means "weakness". Cerebral palsy makes the persons' muscles go weak. Some people with Cerebral palsy can't walk and need to use a wheelchair. Some people with cerebral palsy may have problems with hearing, seeing, or talking.There are different types of cerebral palsy. They are:
Why is it hard to live with Cerebral Palsy everyday? What challenges are involved with having cerebral Palsy?
It is hard when having Cerebral palsy at any age. A boy named Keith has Cerebral palsy and is in college now. He said that there will never be a day when he has never had the condition. CP mostly affects his legs. he had to wear leg braces. Keith says that he hates wearing the legs braces because they are so painful and noisy. There were some people who bullied him and made fun of him but he said that he would already "beat them to the punchline". He also says people only like him by making fun of him. It is kind of hard for Keith to live a life when he has been bullied. He says it is hard for him to walk but he likes to plays sports
why would Cerebral Palsy affect a person's life?
Cerebral palsy really affects a person's life. If you have cerebral palsy, you may have trouble walking, speaking, and seeing. Cerebral palsy causes weakness in the muscles. so that will also mean that it will be hard to write. Cerebral palsy is caused by brain damage. Cerebral palsy causes muscles to grow weak. Muscle spasms could happen and you may have trouble hearing
Is there any way to cure CP?
There is no way to cure cerebral palsy but surgeries can help people who have CP. There are treatments that can improve the quality of their life. CP can happen at birth or at any time
People who have CP
People who have cerebral palsy are very frightened of their first day of school. They know that people won't look at them the same way they look at normal people. A teen named Charisse has Cerebral Palsy. She will be going to school and she is afraid she will be bullied because she has CP. She knows that people will make fun of her because they won't think of her as normal.
