The Great Gatsby Playlist
Transcript of The Great Gatsby Playlist
Mitchell - 4 The Great Gatsby Project Chapter 2: "The Lazy Song" by Bruno Mars I chose this song to describe Daisy and Jordan when Nick first arrives. They are both motionless on the couch and too tired to really enjoy the day. Chapter 3: "Tik Tok" by Ke$ha I chose this song because it perfectly describes the day that Nick and Tom have. They get up, go out, and have a long day of fighting, drinking, and stay out all night. Chapter 4: "Shut up and Drive" by Rihana I chose this song because the main part of this chapter takes place in Gatsby's car, and he's telling Nick about his past. This song emphasizes the relaxing car ride interrupted by Gatsby's lies. Chapter 1: "Dirty Little Secret"
by The All American Rejects I used this song because Nick is thrown in the middle of everyone else's lives and drama, so he knows most of their secrets. Playlist Chapter 5: "Hello" by Lionel Richie I chose this song because it's about someone who wants to see another person who has been missing from their lives for a long time. The "narrator" of the song would be Gatsby. Chapter 6: "Dancing with Myself" by Billy Idol I chose this song because Gatsby was upset that Daisy seemed unimpressed with his party. I think the song might describe how Daisy or Tom might have felt at the party. Chapter 7: "Hit and Run" by Lana Del Rey Chapter 8: "Gun Shot" by Nicki Minaj Chapter 9: "Price Tags" by Jessie J I think this should have been the main message of the story. Everyone needs to stop obseesing over material possesions. This song is about a hit and run and the lyrics almost perfectly describe the characters involved. This is a song about a gun shot, just like the one that kills Gatsby in this chapter. Both the chapter and song are pretty self explanatory and simple.
