Transcript of lewis and clark expedition

This prezi is about an early 19th century expedition. (1804-1806) Meriwether Lewis and William Clark led the first U.S. expedition to the Pacific Coast. The expedition took 863 days. Lewis and Clark explored 7,689 miles. They discovered 122 new animals and 178 new plants. Did you know that Meriweather Lewis was the captain? Lewis suffered from depression for most of his life. He apparently killed himself at an inn in Tennesse in 1809. He was buried at a site 60 miles away from Nashville. Did you know that William Clark was co-captain? He failed to be elected the first Missouri state governor in 1820. He was born in 1813. He died in 1838. Sacagawea was introduced to the Lewis and Clark expedition in November 1804. She traveled with Lewis and Clark as they explored what is now North Dakota, Montana, Idaho, Oregon, and Washington. In Hidatsa, Sacaga means 'bird', and wea means 'woman'. Sacagawea means Bird Woman. Lewis and Clark also called Sacagawea 'Bird Woman'. This is the Corps of Discovery map. The End!!!!! :)
