Add your learning about fold mountains Fold Mountains What are fold mountains?
How do they form? What are the key features/characteristics of
fold mountains? My Case Study How do humans use
fold mountains? How do humans use fold mountains ? Fold mountains are mountains that have been formed by the Collisional boundary which is when 2 Continental plates collide and compress between a river, forming fold mountains from the sediments in the river. Fold mountains are one of the only natural wonders that have been in the Earth for billions of years. The fold mountains have Glaciated valleys, ribbon lakes, U-shaped valleys, pyramidal peaks, fast-flowing rivers and they geologically young which they are 30 - 40 million years old. What is a fold mountain?
Fold mountains are one of the oldest natural wonders of the world, they have been living in Earth for millions of years since the tectonic plate movement.

Examples of fold mountains
The most famous fold mountains are the Himalayas and Mount Everest. The Himalayas are notable for being the most youngest fold mountains so as Mount Everest which is the tallest mountain in the world.

Formation of fold mountain
Fold mountains are formed by the Collisional boundary and some of them are formed by the Destructive boundary.

Impacts of fold mountains
Fold mountains are extremely dangerous to live because they can move due to the earthquakes and the avalanches can damage the homes. Humans use fold mountains as homes and industry lands. Humans build their homes on the flat lands of the fold mountains so as the farms in some lands where the soil is perfect for the farmers to farm. Humans do mine in the fold mountains. Summary of what I've learnt in Fold Mountains I've learnt that fold mountains are mountains that have been in Earth for millions of years. They're cold and they have been formed millions of years ago. Fold Mountains are formed in 2 types of boundaries which are the destructive and collisional boundary. Fold mountains can be made from sediments of the sea or from the rivers. When they are formed in a destructive boundary, the fold mountains will be made from the sediments from the sea. The 2 crusts which one crust is the continental crust and the other is the oceanic crust will collide to form some fold mountains. When they are formed in a collisional boundary, the fold mountains will be made from the river sediments. The 2 continental crusts will collide to form some fold mountains. The most famous fold mountains are the Himalayan mountains along with Mount Everest which they are known as the highest mountains in the world. There's also the Yosemite fold mountains near California that is very famous for their glaciers, glaciers that amaze people. Humans do use these fold mountains but the fold mountains are extremely dangerous to live because of their movement when they're still colliding. When the fold mountains move, they will cause earthquakes and avalanches in forms of rocks which will damage the buildings if people are living in those fold mountains. The reason why people had to live in fold mountains because they have nowhere to live since there isn't enough land to live. But living in fold mountains will be highly expensive to build buildings since the slopes aren't good enough for the roads. People do use fold mountains for tourist attractions like skiing sports and industrial lands such as farming and mining.
