SC: Students will know the suggested order in which to do the exam and begin writing a text response essay utilising the recommended structure.

Step 2:
Brainstorm whether the question is focused mainly on
theme
context
or

genre/style

1. Working in pairs.

2. Take three minutes to brainstorm which one of the three 'types of questions this one is.

3. Class discussion to follow.

Complexify the essay question by asking who/what/where/when/why/how/which?

E.g.
Who does Toby show fear with?
What type of fear is it? Fear of failure, love, truth?
Where does he show fear?
When does show he show fear? When does he show courage?
Why does he show fear? Why does he show courage?
How does he show fear/courage?
How do relevant themes impact upon one another?
Which scenes, quotes and genre/style features best display his fear or courage?
