Biblical Allusions
Moses' Birth
Moses and the Burning Bush
Moses sees an Egyptian beating up a Hebrew, and Moses ends up murdering the Egyptian.
Moses flees from Egypt and goes to the countryside.
Moses is finds work as a shepherd on Jethro's field, and he ends up marrying Jethro's daughter.
One day, while Moses was out with the sheep, he sees a bush burning that's isn't consumed by the flame.
God calls out to Moses and tells him that it is sacred/holy ground
God tells Moses to go back to Egypt and tell the Pharaoh to release the Israelites
Moses tries to object but God tells him to tell the Pharaoh "I am who I am."
Moses returns to Egypt
The Ten Plagues of Egypt
The Pharaoh kept Hebrews as slaves. God became and sent Moses to the Pharaoh to tell him to let his people go. The Pharaoh refused, so God sent ten plagues down on Egypt to prove that he is the one and only God.
These are the ten plagues:

The Origin of Passover
The Pharaoh of Egypt held Moses and the slaves captive.
Pharaoh does not stop even though God tells him to.
God strikes every first born in Egypt.
Citizens supporting god would get a lamb on day one, slay it on midnight of day 14, and roast lamb over fire to eat.
God will know that they are supporters if the lamb's blood is on their door frame.
The Passover lasts 8 days.
The Ten Commandments
The bible says that the Jews were wandering the desert between Egypt and Israel for 40 years. Moses received a message from God telling him to go to the top of a mountain because his people were living wrongly. On top of Mount Sinai, God gave Moses two stone tablets. Each tablet had 5 laws written on it, which told the Jews how God wanted them to behave. The commandments are:
1. Don't pray to any god except me
2. You shall not make idols
3. Never take the Lord's name in vain
4. Remember the Sabbath day; keep it holy.

The Pharaoh of Egypt wanted to kill all of the baby boys because he had been told about the upcoming birth of "The King of Kings."
Jochebed gave birth to a baby boy.
She sent the baby down the Nile River in a basket of reeds to save him.
Moses's sister follows Moses down the river and tells the Pharaoh's daughter about him.
The Pharaoh's daughter "finds" the baby.
Moses's sister tells the Pharaoh's daughter that she knew a Hebrew nurse to take care of Moses (who was her mother).
Moses's mother gets to take care of Moses after all and is raised as the Pharaoh's brother.

Family Guy: Peter becomes "God-like" and God sends six plagues down on him.
The Mummy: locusts burst out of the humans' bodies and ate their victims alive.
5. Honor thy mother and thy father
6. Thou shalt not murder
7. Thou shalt not commit adultery
8. Thou shalt not steal
9. Thou shalt not bear false witness
10. Thou shalt not covet
In the Animal Farm the 7 commandments are an allusion to the 10 commandments.
In the movie To Wong Fu, a character tells Noxema that there are 4 rules that she must obey to achieve the status of "Fabulous". The 10 commandments tell people how to be Christians and "The Rules" tell people how to be "Fabulous".
The Grapes of Wrath: Rose of Sharon delivers a still-born, and they put it in the a coffin and send it down the river.
One Hundred Years of Solitude: Fernanda says that Aureliano appeared just as Moses did in a basket.

Grapes of Wrath: Jim Casey is a "burning busher" because he gives others inspiration to do things.
"Creeping Death" by Metallica
"The Lamb" by William Blake
After the Pharaoh's son dies, he lets the Israelites go.
Later, the Pharaoh sends his troops after Moses and his people because he was so angry.
Moses parts the Red Sea and his people get through safely, but when the Egyptian army walks on the land, the sea closes back up and they are all wiped out.
