Bertsolaritza
If you are singing with rhythm and calculating the syllables they say that you are singing a bertso.A bertso is the way you called the song you sing in bertsolaritza.
Here in the Basque country, bertsolaritza developed in the 19th century.

Without rhythm there is no bertsolaritza. There are different types of songs depending on the number of the syllables. For example, When there are 8 syllables, there are two types of songs, the big of 8 and the small of 8.The same with 10 syllables but in this case there is only the big one.

The instruments that they are used for bertsolaritza are “Alboka,Atabala,Danbolina, Danborra,Dultzaina, 3 zuloko txirula,panderoa,Silbotea,Supriñua,Trikitia,txalaparta,Txistua,Ttun-ttuna ”.

Txirrita, Xenpelar and Lazkao Txiki are the most famous singers of the ancient singers. And now a days, they are known Jon Maia, Miren Amuriza and Maialen Lujanbio, Andoni Egaña.

It's a cooficial language in the whole
Valencian Community.
It's a dialect from Catalan, which is also
official in other regions, such as Catalonia
and the Balearic Islands, where it's cooficial
too, Andorra, where it's the only official
language, and some territories in Italy
(Alghero), France (Rousillon) and parts of
Aragon, where it's spoken.
10,000,000 people say they can
and actually do communicate in
Catalan in all different regions and
countries where it is used.
Spanish is cooficial with Catalan both in the Valencian Community and in Catalonia. It is the only official language in Andorra.
In other countries, it is spoken and studied, but it's not official (territories in Spain, France and Italy).
Less than 36% of the population claim to have it as
their mother tongue or first language. The figures vary. It is very common in some parts of the Valencian Community, specially in Castelló and València, and it's not so common in Alacant, where Spanish is much more used.
In Catalonia, it's quite common for people to use it as their first language, but not so much in industrial cities where many people have come from other regions or countries.
As for the Balearic Islands, it's very popular in Menorca, and not so much in the other islands, where it's understood by many people and studied by everybody at school.
Catalan can be studied at EOIs (Official Schools
of Languages), and also in Public Centres for Adults (FPAs). Of course, it is also studied at
universities (even in many countries in Europe).
- Degrees at the EOI
- Junta Qualificadora de Coneixements de Valencià
- Certificats de nivells de català
- ICE (Institut de Ciències de l'Educació)
- And many other diplomas studied at different universities, from Catalonia, Balearic Islands and the Valencian Community.
Mostly pop and rock, although
folk is also important.

Sopa de cabra, Sau, Joan Manuel Serrat,
Lluís Llach, Maria del Mar Bonet, Raimon,
Marina Rossell, Manel, Antònia Font, Obrint pas
La Vanguàrdia, El Periódico, El punt avui, Ara, Diari de Balears, L'esportiu, and some others.
Newspapers are published every
day, magazines are published weekly, and there are also online publications.
Catalunya Ràdio, IB3, Ràdio 1, RAC 1, Catalunya
informació, Catalunya música, Sí ràdio, Ràdio
Flaixbac, Flaix FM, and RAC 105 are the most
important ones, but there are also smaller ones.

They can be heard all over Catalonia, and thanks to the Internet, all around the world. The official radio station in the Valencian Community was closed, as was the only official TV channel in Valencian (Canal 9), some years ago due to cutbacks, and they are expected to broadcast again soon.
