Section 2
Describe how you gathered information on this factor
Performed 3 games to 15 points against an opponent of a similar ability.
Video recorded the games using an iPad using coaches eye.
Read through the success criteria for Very Effective, Fairly Effective or Ineffective. This allowed me to decide where to place each tally mark within each shot.
Filled in the observation sheet attached using the video through coaches eye. Comparing against a model performer I placed tally marks where I thought each shot was Very Effective, Fairly Effective or Ineffective.
2b –Explain the choice of method you used to gather information about this factor(4 marks)
Video evidence is 100% reliable. Can be fast forwarded, rewound, and paused to make sure findings are accurate
It showed us where our skill level is good, average and poor. It gives us easy data to interpret.
We can see using which shots most errors were made.
We can see which our best shot is.
We can see if we aren’t playing certain shots so we can be aware of whether we are avoiding using these strokes.
Completed in a game situation – a true reflection of a match performance.
Hard evidence that can be looked back on to measure any improvements by comparing pre and post training data.
2c provide a summary of the information gathered
You should report in detail on the data gathered by your match analysis.
2(c) Provide a summary of the information gathered (3 marks)

2(c) Provide a summary of the information gathered (3 marks)
You must summarise the information – do not describe how you did the test.
Paragraph 1 :
The match analysis showed a strength of my performance to be the serve……. X% of my serves were rated as very effective
BECAUSE
they were landing or pushing my opponent to the back of the court or even into the tramlines.
WHY IS THIS GOOD?
This created space which I could then play a drop shot into and win the point.

Paragraph 2:
ANOTHER strength of my performance was my drop shot. This was because X% of my drop shots were very effective
BECAUSE
they were landing right at the front of the court
WHY IS THIS GOOD?
that created space at the back for me to hit the shuttle in to.
ANOTHER strength of my performance was my smash. I won 100% of points with my smash but I only hit one so this is not enough data to be able to make a reliable judgment.
Paragraph 3
Example
A weakness of my performance was my Overhead Clear. This is because x% of my shots were rated as ineffective. WHAT DOES THIS MEAN? This meant that the shuttle was landing in the mid court or setting up my opponent for a smash. WHY IS THIS BAD? This meant that I struggled to return the shuttle and stay in the rally.
Paragraph 4
The analysis also showed that 33% of my net shots were very effective, 33% of them were fairly effective and 33% were ineffective. Although I won a few points with this shot, I also lost a few so this is another area I could work on.

Question 2d) Referring to the programme of work and the summary of information you have given in 2(c), explain why you chose this particular programme of work to develop your performance. (5 marks
)
This is talking about the reasons for choosing your programme of work:
Ease of carrying out the method
Variety/Specificity of the programme
Motivating
Relevant to the demands of the activity
Required no specialist equipment
Begin to explain that from your data collection you found that a major weakness was your overhead clear.
Your partner had the same weakness which allowed you to train together using the same drills. This enabled you to help each other out throughout the programme
Paragraph 1
We were able to set specific goals which kept us motivated throughout the programme.
We also ensured that we used a variety of drills and activities in order to keep us focused and to prevent boredom
Paragraph 2
We could ensure that we made our practices relevant to our demands
Some of the practices were simple and gave us a chance to focus on and correct poor technique e.g grip, side on stance, preparation action recovery etc
Paragraph 3
We used a gradual build up approach to our programme which pushed me on only when I was ready.
We also used a whole part whole approach which was fun as I got to practice my technique under conditioned games situations which also helped me stay motivated throughout the programme. By doing this I got to expose my overhead clear in a more game like situation which put both physical and mental pressure on me.
