The pH Balance Scale Brittney Wagner Whats behind door number 3? Lucky number 7! What is the pH Scale? Lets start with 0 What has a pH balance of 0?
Battery Acid, H2SO4. Well, technically its 0.8, still very dangerous acid Apples have a pH balance of 3, a medium ranked acid Water has a pH balance of 7, which is neither base nor acid. It is neutral. Its a scale from 0-14 on how acidic or basic something is. Like 7 is considered neutral, less than 7 is considered acidic, and more than 7 is considered basic. Water has a ph of 7. Leave a battery in a toy or remote long enough, and you should see this. Make sure not to touch, it is very corrosive. 1 is the loneliest number HCl has a pH balance of 1, but can sometimes be found to have a pH number of 2 or 3. Very strong acid!!! Definitely do not touch. 2 is safer than 1, but not by much Lemon juice is an excellent example, but cuts and scrapes stay away. This is a very strong acid. How to make lemonade: Ingredients:

6 lemons
6 cups cold water
1 cup sugar

Juice your lemons, and you should get about 1 cup of fresh lemon juice. You can use bottled if you must, but the flavor won't be as crisp. In a large pitcher, mix lemon juice, water and sugar. Stir lemonade well and serve over ice, with a lemon slice or two to garnish.
I am number 4 Everyone's favorite, wine and beer have pH balances of 4, not too strong, not too weak acids Did you know? A glass of red wine a day, decreases your risk of heart disease. I don't like 5s Black coffee, has a pH balance of 5, a semi-weak acid Personally, I like my coffee with cream and sugar, but hey, if that's what the pH scale asks for, who am I to judge? 6 out of 5 people have trouble with fractions Milk has a balance of 6.6, not a strong acid at all why did the farmer scare his cow?
He wanted a milk shake!! Don't forget to recycle properly and accordingly to it's Plastic code found on the bottom of the bottle Blood has a pH level of 7.4, so it is not neutral, but a weak base. 8 is zero with a belt Did you know? 9 Baking Soda, (sodium bicarbonate) has pH balance of 9, a weak base. Eggs have a pH balance of 8, a fairly weak base Most eggs are laid between 7-11 AM, They are also a good source of protein Did you know?
Baking soda can be used to remove pencil, ink, crayon, and furniture scuffs. Sprinkle soda on a damp sponge, rub clean, and rinse. It's also used for cooking, and makes great brownies 10, double digits! Milk of Magnesium has a pH balance of 10.5, a semi-strong base Did you know? Milk of magnesia consists of magnesium hydroxide. It also has a trace amount of zinc in it. Both these ingredients play a major role in treating various skin problems like acne, oil control, sunburn and even skin rashes.
11 is not Heaven Ammonia is a compound of nitrogen and hydrogen with the formula NH3. It is a colorless gas with a characteristic pungent smell, whose pH balance is 11. A strong base Never Mix Ammonia and bleach, when mixed together they make a toxin called Mustard Gas. May the odds be ever in your favor, District 12! Lime (calcium hydroxide) is a rare mineral that's very potent and can damage major organs and tissues, has pH of 12.4, very strong base. Unlucky 13 Bleach, a cleaner that whitens white clothing, and ruins colors if spilled on, has a pH of 13, making it a very strong base. Oops wrong Bleach. There we go, that's the real bleach. Repeated warning from base 11, do not mix. 14, the force is strong with this one Sodium Hydroxide (NaOH) has a pH of 14, and is at the strongest base level, very dangerous, often found in drain cleaner. NaOH is used to manufacture soap and paper Did you know? Applesauce is very healthy for you
