How to Register: an Interactive Tutorial
There’s a lot to consider AND several steps to follow in order to enroll for classes as a Running Start student at Edmonds Community College.
Plan ahead
You compete with about 10,000 students for class enrollment!
You're in charge
YOU choose your classes
YOU enroll for YOUR classes
YOU manage YOUR class schedule
Good news!
So consider your...
Personal & high school schedules
AND
Plan for study time
5 college credits = 15 hours of study per week
5 online college credits = 20 hours per week
Get the ENROLLMENT VERIFICATION FORM from your counselor EVERY quarter you want to participate in Running Start
STEP 2
See your high school counselor

Don't forget to have your parent sign the form EVEN IF YOU'RE 18!
STEP 3
TURN IN your completed ENROLLMENT VERIFICATION FORM
Turn in your ENROLLMENT VERIFICATION FORM early, about 2 WEEKS before next quarter's registration

Plan to SPEND TIME in the Running Start office. Allow time to wait your turn and for us to discuss your academic plans.

Prerequisites
Let's look at the prerequisites for Spanish 221
Did you catch it? What's the prerequisite for this class? There are two possibilities.
In order to register for SPAN 221 you need to have taken SPAN 123 or receive instructor's permission.

Find your registration date
why?!
Remember you're competing for a seat in classes with 10,000 or so students. It's in your best interest to find your registration date ASAP and to prepare for registration accordingly.
Because you can ONLY register ON or AFTER your registration date
NOTE: priority goes to current students with the most earned credits. So the more credits you earn the sooner you get to register for each consecutive quarter.

Have your student ID number (955 number) ready and follow the brackets and arrows to find your registration date for winter quarter

Once you hit "Submit" the class will be displayed on the right. This means you have successfully registered for the class.

Now you're officially enrolled in classes!
TIP: Once you settled your schedule, print it out! This will make finding your books and locating your classes easier.

The SECTION LETTER distinguishes one class time from another. PAY ATTENTION to this letter because even if you take English 100, for example, the teacher and the textbooks may be different for each section.

PIN = 6 digit birth date, unless you change it (mm/dd/yy)
TIP: Memorize your SID. You'll need your SID and PIN to access your personal information at Edmonds CC

Registration and Preparing for Your First Day

IMPORTANT: It is the responsibility of each Running Start student to check his/her college grades each quarter through the Edmonds CC website as soon as they are available to make sure they are in compliance with the Satisfactory Academic Progress Policy.

As students drop classes, during the registration period, students on the waitlist will be automatically added to the class in the order that they appear on the list
The waitlist will close on the first day of the quarter.
If you still want to enroll in the class, be sure to show up on the first day and talk to the instructor about getting permission to enroll.
