What is manifest Destiny?
Manifest Destiny is a term for the attitude during the 19th century period of American expansion to the west that the United States not only could, but was destined to, stretch from coast to coast and settle all the land in between.

fifteen separate states between the Mississippi River and the Rocky Mountains, is what the Louisiana Purchase will be made up of

General Santa Anna led the revolution against Mexico's Emperor
Zachary Taylor conquered Mexico.
Was called the hero of the Mexican- American War.
President Polk made the decision to go to war with Mexico but was not planning on a long lasting war but more of a short one.

The 49th parallel formed from The Oregon tready. This gave the US land from the Rocky Mountains to Georgia as the boundary between the United States and British Canada. The US gained control over the future states of Oregon, Washington, Idaho, and Montana, and the British retained Vancouver Island and navigation rights to part of the Columbia River.
This area was owned by the British. After the American Revolution Great Briton moved up in to the Canada area to wait and see when and if the american government would crumble then they would gain control again.
