SCREENDEEP: A placemaking creative collective

We are producers of arts and community building projects.
Since 2009 we have worked with clients across different sectors to create small to large scale initiatives.
Our expertise lies in telling real stories and keeping the audience experience front of mind.
A DISTRIBUTION AND PROMOTION PLAN FROM PROCESS TO PRODUCT
ONLINE PRESENCE - A BLOG WHERE PROGRESS IS DOCUMENTED AND THE PUBLIC CAN CONTRIBUTE TO ‘PASSAGES’ IN DEVELOPMENT
ARCHIVE - A PHYSICIAL AND DIGITAL COLLECTION OF INTERVIEWS ACCESSED AS A LEARNING RESOURCE. PROMOTED TO MUSEUMS AND ACADEMICS.
LIVE EVENTS - ENGAGING WITH AUDIENCES DIRECTLY TO SHOWCASE FINAL PIECES AS GROUP EVENTS AS WELL AS IN SITU MUSIC PERFORMANCES TO LAUNCH
ART GALLERIES - RELEASING A CURATED COLLECTION OF AUDIO MATERIAL AS AN INSTALLATION. ALSO INCORPORATING SOUNDBITES INTO EXISTING EXHIBITIONS ALREADY PLANNED
SMARTPHONE APP - PASSAGES TO BE RELEASED WITHIN A GPS TRIGGERED ITUNES APP
PODCAST/RADIO - DVEELOPING A MEDIA PLAN WHICH INCORPORATES EDITORIAL COVERAGE FOCUSED ON PODCASTERS AND RADIO STATIONS
With a phased approach, our suggested phases work in line with Crossrail timelines but can be flexible.

We'd prefer to work together to hit milestones and key objectives with this as a guide:

PHASE ONE: from September 2016
PHASE THREE: from April 2018

Currently applying to Arts Council and PRS for seed funding.
We are open to supporting alternative joint funding bids
Income streams are possible from a pay for app and ticketed live events.

A full costing is possible when the project scope is agreed.
As a guide:
Project lead freelance rates: £250/ day
Research and production only costs for our recent 45 minute sound piece at £10, 000
A way of communicating the full story
Crossrail will soon become a public service, we went to celebrate it's legacy as a feat of human engineering.
The project could fall into 2 phases:
Phase 1: Construction
The underground world of large scale construction that will no longer exist once Crossrail trains are running.

1. Creating an archive of intimate human stories: from tunnellers, archeologists, engineers. These narratives will directly form fabric of the project- transformed into song, choral pieces, audio collage and performed stories woven into the sound world of the underground. Performed by 'real' voices rather than highly trained singers. Involve community.

2. Recording the acoustic world of the underground: utilising and preserving the unique acoustics of empty tunnel shafts, train stations and platforms, incorporating live musical performances within these spaces.

Phase 2: Enhancing the experience of a Crossrail journey with audio.

Window views/ syncronised soundscapes/ personal stories/ transmitting a landscape.

Personal commuter stories, hidden landmarks/ secrets,

Alternate realities; layering sound from other routes, e.g. Amazon boat journeys. (Bring Wallinsea to the trains)

Contributing to the existing Crossrail narratives and creating new ones.
Legacy:
Storytelling to preserve this unique infrastructure project.
Entertainment:
Customers connect to their new service through a high quality and fun experience.
Income stream:
Opportunity for revenue through the creation of a smartphone app and ticketed events.
Raises Profile:
Highlights 'behind the scenes' profile, empowering staff and providing the public with a connection to those involved.
'Retold Passages' is led by arts producer Olivia Bellas and composer Nicole Robson.

Together they have 30 years experience in the arts and culture industry.

In 2015 they worked together to create an alternative audio guide for London's Trinity Buoy Wharf. Now a marketing tool to engage new visitors at Open House and other events, as well as online.
Partners- We are in discussion with a number of partners for 'Retold Passages'
Radio play of passages and live
recording of events.
Producers for communal listening events
TFL and Art on the Underground for marketing and promotion.
Archive of all stories from Londoners and
construction workers.
We wear headphones 75 days of the year and they are synonymous with commuters and journeys.
Therefore audio is the ideal medium to communicate this this demographic.
London and it's boundaries are developing rapidly- we want to involve the public in the regeneration of their city as it happens right now.
1. Below Ground

2. Above Ground
