Similarities/Differences of Beowulf Similarities! Beowulf arrived on a ship. Beowulf killed Grendle. Beowulf became king. The people of Denmark excepted help from Beowulf. When fighting grendle, beowulf did not use any weapons. Differences! In the book Beowulf was king of Geatland, and in the movie he was king of Denmark. Wrothgar killed himself in the movie,
however he did not kill himself in the book. Beowulf tore off Grendles arm in the book,
and he shut it in door and it was torn off during the movie. Beowulf killed Grendles mother in the book, but he did not in the movie. Beowulf's wife was not mentioned in the book,
