A bureaucratic obstacle which prevented several investors in Animal Husbandry was eliminated with the assistance from the Agency.
Defining the regions
Also in accordance with EU accession policies;
Ministry of Development defined 26 sub-divisions according to statistical data in 2003.
A separate LOCAL unit would be established in each region.

Reducing regional disparities
First projects for Regional Development: GAP, DOKAP, DAKAP, ZBK,…
Planning comes from the Capital, therefore lacks elasticity and doesn't reflect the local demands efficiently
Development plans were NOT embraced in local and the projects suffered difficulties
It seemed obvious that a development is not effective without active participation from the local stakeholders
Letting the local actor have a voice
A bottom-up development policy rather than a top-bottom
in 2006, the first two agencies in Izmir and Çukurova (Adana, Mersin) as prototype
in 2008, eight more goes into action
in 2009, all 26 Agencies were established and began their operations across the country
South Marmara Development Agency
was established in July 25, 2009.
Operates in the provinces of Balıkesir and Çanakkale.
