Thomas Nast's Depiction of Company Owners
: I feel kind of angered at this picture because it shows how society really looks like. People with money earned even more money.
: Rich company business owners in the 1840-1900's who owned a big company, earn an enormous amount of money due to their cheap labor work and expansion.
: With business owners getting richer, society, who is already poor, becomes more impoverished.
The poor middle class will form a union to fight for minimum wages and proper care in labor work. /What does his fat signify?

I felt heartbroken when I saw the children sleeping on the floor in raggedy clothes.
Women had to work at factories and at home, cooking, cleaning, and taking care of their children.
Due to women working domestically and outdoors, they were exhausted. Children were also working long hour days in the factories.
Child labor will be protested and living conditions will be improved. Did women and children get sick from working too long?
Seeing kid in sweat shops is always a shocking story to me, due to the fact that I am also around their age.
Children were sent to companies to help support their family back at home. These companies abused the children's work hours, pay, and nutrition.
Because of these seat shops, children never get to have an education because they spend time working all day.
Adults and parents would probably begin child labor strikes and unions. What/how were the environments of these sweat shops?
I was so surprised when I saw these four children sleeping on one bed because for me, I'm pretty small and sleep on a full-size bed myself.
Families were too poor to afford another mattress in the 1800-1900s.
Due to these living conditions, children are more likely to get ill, have bone problems, and causes uncomfortableness.
Poverty was everywhere, and wages will increase later on. Did a whole family sleep together or just their children?
I felt worried and doubtful about how and what Roosevelt was going to do as president.
Teddy Roosevelt is going to be the next United States president of America after McKinley and is the youngest of them all. People already had the idea of laissez-faire in mind.
Roosevelt made a speech about progressivism. His progressive plan was to add a little of radicals and conservatives' ideas and have pure democracy in society to satisfy the people.
Roosevelt wanted to eliminate trusts and push the country further. Did Roosevelt really want pure democracy?
I was astonished by the number of eastern Europeans immigrating to America.
The United States population doubled in 1865-1920. The new immigrants were from Italy and Russia.
Many wanted to immigrate to America for jobs, freedom, food, and land.
Many americans will get angry from immigrants stealing their jobs--the idea of demand for employment. Once the United States gets overpopulated, how will economy flow for society? How will the government resolve the issue?
I felt irritated and bothered when I saw this because I would feel criticized from whites too, if I was there during this time period.
Segregation and racism was still happening. Colored people were inferior from white people.
Colored people had to drink from a different water fountain from whites. There is inequality and injustice between blacks and whites.
Blacks will protest and have riots for their equal rights. Why are people still prejudice towards different races to this very day?
: The fire of 1911 make me think of the 911 incident with the planes and the people who died along with it and made me feel sad for the unfortunate.
: The fire began in March 25, 1911. They specialized in making shirtwaists through cheap prices, but the owner Blanck and Harris exploited the workers pay and work conditions.
The high rise buildings showed an example of hazardous conditions like the fire.
New architecture will start to develop in order to create safer buildings. How were some ways people escaped?
Meat Packing/Slaughter houses
I loth looking at the sight of dead animals and I felt really disgusted when I saw these meat packing houses.
In large companies, some animals are torched cruelly for the purpose of making their meat more delicious.
Though meat is farmed cheaply through these establishments, many companies adapted to practice in order to save money.
I think that there will be acts that will form to stop animal cruelty. Why does it matter that our animals are torched?
I felt disturbed when I saw workers with those enormous meat cleavers, slicing through the bloody meat without gloves.
Meat was not inspected through the industry in the meat packing process, and workers were getting low pay with this job. Food was often unsafe to consume.
The slaughter houses were unsanitary and dangerous to work in. Illnesses and wounds will occur from the bacteria and with the use of treacherous utensils.
In order to keep employees from getting sick and hurt, the Food and Drug Administration was passed. Women were allowed to work in the same factory as men?
