Assignment 1 - my programme of music

Objectives
1) to get to know everyone
2) to recap this unit and assignment
3) to select and research at least one piece of music appropriate for your solo performance programme
Objective 1:
Would I lie to you?
Write 3 things about yourself on the piece of paper - 2 MUST be true, 1 MUST be a lie. I will ask you questions to figure out which is the lie.
Objective 2: What's it all about?
Task 1 - you have 3 minutes to remember as much as you can about this unit. What are:
- the learning aims? What do you have to do? What evidence do you need?

Objective 2: What's it all about?
Task 2 - now tell me about this assignment. What do you have to do? What evidence do you need? What are the grading criteria for P1, M1, and D1? You have 3 minutes. GO.
Objective 3: What's my next piece?
You have 20 minutes to look for a CONTRASTING piece of music for you performance programme. Then use the questions in your booklet to research/analyse your piece. Report back to me in 20 minutes to discuss what you've done so far!!

To get a distinction you need to:
JUSTIFY appropriate and contrasting pieces for an extended programme of music. Tell the audience/the examiner WHY you have chosen these pieces. Do they use certain techniques you want to explore?
M1
To get a merit you need to:
DESCRIBE appropriate and contrasting pieces for an extended programme of music. Describe your repertoire - when/where the pieces were composed; does the song tell a story? Is it designed to show off the technical genius of the performer?
