Information and Communication Technology (ICT)
Group Members: Thant Hoe, Maung Khant, Jared Lecesne, Amanda Lue, Christina Singh
Information and Communication Technology describes the equipment and use of equipment that allows one to access and work with data and information.
ICT plays an important role in various industries such as banking and manufacturing as it helps to make the work done more efficient. There are also several personnel involved in the application of ICT such computer operators and trainers, web designers and consultants.
Applications of ICT
Personnel in ICT
EFT allows the direct transfer, crediting and debiting of funds.
Customers can withdraw sums of cash and check account details from ATMs.
Fewer staff are needed and accounts can be accessed at any time online.
Purchases can be automatically made by debit
Many cheques can be processed by MICR.
Networking hardware for WAN e.g. cables
Gives professional information and advice to clients in an organization.
Shows how to implement ICT in organizations depending on their needs.
Strong communications skills
Must have a degree relating to type of consultant such as computer sciences or software engineering.
Good explanations skills

Core Banking System
A special type of web developer that will mainly handle the aesthetics of a web page.
Creates the structure of a website. (The User Interface).

Applications of ICT:
Many products are now auto-assembled by computers.
CIM combines CADD and CAM systems and allows them to exchange information.
CADD software creates precise 2-D or 3-D designs.
CAM systems, such as CNC machines help to make the same product repeatedly.
Computers are used to collect and use data in engineering (CAE).
Applications of ICT:
CNC machine tools e.g. Lathe
CADD specialized software
CAM specialized software
Performs the hardware-based activities necessary for the operation of the computer systems.
Sets up the mainframe or server system to execute its many jobs.
Monitors the progress of the different jobs being executed by the computer and performs troubleshooting if any issues arise.

a machine that enables users to perform financial transactions, connected to their accounts.
Electronic Funds Transfer at Point of Sale (EFTPOS):
an electronic payment system that uses credit and debit.
Core Banking System:
a processing application for processing all transactions.
a programmer who specializes in the development of applications of the world wide web.
is comprised of the software and hardware.
a high performance computer used for
a network computer that contains information and files that are shared with other computers within the network.
a method of problem solving used to repair failed products or processes.

a way by which the computer and its user communicate and interact.
Magnetic Ink Character Reader (MICR):
This reads magnetic ink codes on cheques as bank account details.
In conclusion, ICT is a very important aspect of many industries nowadays. It is applied to banking and manufacturing to increase efficiency.
ICT has also broadened the world of work. There are now more career options, such as: computer operator, computer trainer, web designer and consultant. These are all personnel involved in ICT.
