Ned Vizzini It's Kind of A Funny Story From the book: Quotations It's Kind of a Funny Story, a short novel written by Ned Vizzini, is about the struggles and
problems of an average boy named Craig who has clinical depression. Although the story revolves
around Craig's depression, it isn't gloomy and dark, and neither is it unrealistic. It addresses the
problems and feelings many teens face everyday without giving the feeling of a therapeutic book or a
self-help guide. Its modern setting and writing style allow teenagers to relate to it, while the book's
brevity poses no challenges to those averse to reading. The story conveys some philosophical
undertones which hint at an influence of objectivism, but does not try to inform or persuade the reader
in any philosophy, allowing room for speculation and discussion. We would recommend this book to
anyone looking for some easy yet insightful reading material and would especially recommend this to
those feeling a little down or stressed. Letter 1. Neurotransmitter- structures that transmit signals in the brain

"Cough Syrup" by Young the Giant can be interpreted to be someone who is clinically depressed taking antidepressants, or (as resembled in the song) cough syrup. The depression that is in the song "Cough Syrup" resembles Craig's view on life. He wants to escape the life he is in and in order to escape the world forever he attempts to commit suicide. Another interpretation is that there is a bigger picture to life, and once you find it you can find happiness. Craig found the bigger picture towards the end of the book. However, not fully at his peak of happiness, he can now continue living life contently. Technology: Popular Songs: Events: Pluto is downgraded to dwarf planet

Psychiatric Hospital "life can’t be cured, but it can be managed." "Lord, grant me the strength to accept the things I cannot change; Courage to change the things I can; And wisdom to know the difference. " "See, that's the part I don't get, Craig. I mean, you're cool, you're smart, you're talented. You have a family that loves you. You know, what I would do just to be you, for just a day? I would... I would do so much. I would... I don't know. I would just... I'd just live. Like it meant something."
