Background: Margaret Atwood Atwood was born on November 18, 1939 in Ottawa, Ontario, Canada.
She is 70 years old, and is still writing.
Atwood grew up writing in the woods because her father was an entomologist and spent a lot of time there.
Her favorite writer as a teenager was Edgar Allan Poe, she liked his dark mystery stories. Awards: Atwood has won over 55 awards, which include many high awards for novelists and poets. Atwood's style: Atwood is seen as an accessible writer, who writes with alternated prose.
Atwood's poems represent "private" myth and "personal" expression, as well as a public and "social" expression.
Atwood writes with an exact, vivid, and witty style in both prose and poetry, and unlike other writers writes about pain and unfairness. Atwood's poems:
One Atwood's most famous works of writing, the Handmaid's Tale is a science fiction or a speculative fiction novel based in the future.
