step 1:maths rules
nearly everyone knows their maths rules e.g.1234+999=2233. all you have to do is add one to the thousands and take away 1 from the units.
Step 2:methods
when people are stuck,they use methods. this is an example,it is called column addition.

this is where the most important part come in,place values.
a place value is somethingyou have to be on line e.g.

127688 or you can add some zeros there
step four:subrtracting

this is another operation called subtraction.it means the opposite of adding.there's another method about it.here's an example.
