Transcript of Cosmetology
Definition of Cosmetology:
Cosmetology is the professional skill or practice of beautifying/ treating the hair, skin, and nails.
Daily Life of a Cosmetologist:
Why This Career Path Interests Me?
What Steps Do I Need to Take to Enter This Field of Work?
The first step to become a cosmetologist is finding a cosmetology school that fits my needs. At a cosmetology school I will learn the skills and techniques needed to pass Georgia's licensing exam for hair, nails, makeup, safety and sanitation.
Life After Beauty School:
A cosmetologist has many jobs including:
Cutting, trimming and shaping hair
Applying hair dye or bleach
Styling hair or wigs by combing, brushing
Shampooing and/or massaging & treating clients scalps
Recommending and applying cosmetics to their clients
Shaping and coloring eyebrows or lashes
Removing facial hair using tweezers, thread or wax
Cleaning, polishing, and shaping toe nails, & finger nails.
Updating and maintaining clients information records.
Internships are essential in the beauty industry. Beauty school students cannot perform certain tasks without the appropriate license, unless they are being instructed and by a supervisor. However students can still answer phones, schedule appointments, sanitize tools, or provide advice to customers about hair products or cosmetics.
This career path interests me because make up is such a beautiful work of art. Although most people don't see it that way, a face is like a canvas, a makeup brush is like a paint brush and an eyeshadow palette is like having a paint palette with a variety of colors. But make up is so much more, an artist can paint whatever they want. Make up artists have to work with skin tone, eye color, hair color, the shape of the face, the shape of the yes, lips, etc.
Make Up Artist Idol:

"This was a dream of mine, the income didn't matter to me. I just wanted to chase my dream, this is my favorite thing to do it calms me whenever I'm stressed. I have a passion for this, we have to love what we do so that we can be better at doing it. Remember that no practice is ever enough practice in this industry. Practice and availability make a perfect beautician"
