The People Affected by the Mexican-American War Americans in Texas The People in Texas were affected as they were right there in the middle of the war. Their towns and cities were probably used as military bases. There were probably casualties, which changed lives forever. These people received a large increase in their population after the Tejanos were affected. The Tejanos The Tejanos were mexican citizens in Texas. After the war, the Treaty of Guadalupe Hidalgo was signed. One of the terms of this treaty was that the mexican citizens in Texas, Tejanos, would receive full american citizen ship. The Border The Mexican-American war affected our two countries forever. Because of it, our border has become a subject of dispute and debate. The war affected anyone who had or has anything to do with our border. Americans Who Expanded West The Americans who moved west were affected as they were able to move to the land that the US received as a result of the war. This led to the population of New Mexico, Arizona and Nevada.
