Transcript of Theory Lesson: Solfege

What the heck is
SOLFEGE??

Solfege are the syllables and hand signs we use to name all the notes in a scale. You can use solfege to sing exercises
and
to read notes. Mastering solfege helps you master control of your voice.
Singing with Solfege
Practice using all the syllables and hand signs (with
both
hands) as you sing exercises. Work to
memorize
all the solfege syllables and hand signs
Reading Music with Solfege
The notes of a song can be sung with solfege. It's kind of like a code. You have to know how to look at musical notes and decipher the solfege. The easiest way to do this is to remember that "do" has its own special line below the treble clef.
Theory Lesson: Solfege
Can you sing the solfege scale from memory?
Can you spell all the solfege syllables?
Dont forget...
"re" "mi" and "ti" are
not
spelled like the English words "ray" "me" and "tea." (use Latin spelling)
Can you decipher these notes?
Make sure you memorize all the solfege syllables and hand signs for the Solege Quiz. You will also need to decipher notes using the solfege syllables. Don't forget...
correct spelling counts!
