Adjectives What is an Adjective?
An Adjective is a word that describes a noun or a pronoun
Noun= person,place,thing,or idea
Pronoun=substitute for a noun Examples of Adjectives in a sentence.
After a hockey game, the locker room smells sweaty and stinky.
Locations of Adjectives! Modfying adjectives usually come DIRECTLY BEFORE NOUN! Sometimes, they may come after the noun. noun Adjectives answer Four questions!
What kind? Which one? How many? How much? Hard shot Fast skates Best shot That shot Those skates This shot Many shots Two skates Few shots Big shot Big skates Short shots The article THE is called a definite article. A definite refers to a specific person, place, or thing. Examples:
The hockey game was very interesting.
The fight was intense and violent. ARTICLES

Three common adjectives are also articles:

An Using articles Proper adjectives!!!!!

*Proper Nouns can also be used as Proper adjectives.
Examples:
The Rocket Richard trophy is given to the top goal scorer of the league.(Which trophy?)
Marc-Andre Fleury uses a Reebox goalie stick.(What kind of stick?)
*A proper noun used as an adjective does NOT change its form. Nouns or pronouns as adjectives!!!!

*****Nouns used as an adjective usually come directly before another noun and answers the question WHAT KIND? of WHICH ONE?

Examples:The hockey stick was longer than the rest of them.
The goalie mask design was different but cool at the same time. Adjectives THE END!!!!
