atrium This is what your body looks like. And this is your heart. How does your heart really work? Let's look at the heart from a view you are more familiar with. This is a cross section of the heart. You can clearly see all 4 chambers. Now, if we put the classic diagram on top, you can see that the labels of the four heart chambers are exactly the same. Let's take another look, but this time with blood moving through the four chambers. So the next time you see an image that looks like this. Think of this. References:

the right atrium
the right ventricle
the left atrium and
on both a diagram and MRI image of the human heart.
You should also be able to recognize that the right side of the heart contains oxygenated blood and the left side contains de-oxygenated blood.
