Rio de Janerio Tijuca Forest Location Info Location:Rio de Janeiro, Brazil The Tijuca Forest is reputed to be the world's largest urban forest. It is the closest forest to an urban area in the world. This urban forest is responsible for creating much of the rain and fresh water for the city of Rio de Janeiro.The Tijuca Forest is part of the 15 square mile Tijuca National Park and is located in mountainous area behind the Tijuca, Lagoa and Gavea neighborhoods. Tijuca spans 7,900 acres. Flora and Fauna Rio de Janerio, Brazil The Tujuca Forest is full of lush tropical plants and trees, numerous animal species, waterfalls, caves, scenic vistas, hiking trails, and mountain peaks. In this forest, there was recorded at least 900 different species of plants and 230 species of animals and birds. The main trees are called arca pipa, óleo pardo. Among the mammals you can see monkeys, nail Sagui estrela, Quatis, picks, hummingbirds, tanagers, Teius, camaleões and many species of butterflies.
