The Middle East's Independence
Narrator Lil' Jimmy
"Ben's Guide: Grades 9-12." Ben's Guide: Grades 9-12. N.p., n.d. Web. 12 Sept. 2013.

The Connecticut Compromise was a compromise made at the Constitutional Convention. A compromise making an agreement to do with the legislative structure and representation that each state would have under the United States Constitution.
At the Constitutional Convention a conference to discus how to strengthen the federal government many ideas were brought up. One main idea was the Virginia Plan. A plan to have not only one house but two houses in the legislature. The other idea was the New Jersey plan. This idea was a plan to have a single legislative house with equal representation for each state. Both ideas for how to make the federal government stronger were proposed at the Constitutional Convention. Unfortunately both ideas were turned down.
Now that the United States was Independent and had improved the laws of their land by throwing out the Articles of Confederation and replacing it by creating a new Constitution; they had Sovereignty. Every state acted in the best interests of its citizens.
Many Many yeas ago there was a rather large region in the middle East that did not believe they should be ruled by a king. Within that region people formed a conference to discuss the issues at hand. Each state within the region was required to ratify and agree on what they wanted to stand for. The people of this region decided to create a written document stating that they were no longer to be ruled by a king but that they were now and forever more to be declared as an independent nation. This document was called the Declaration Of Independence.
Another thing that was suggested at the
Constitutional Convention was Three-Fifths Compromise. This was a compromise stating that each state could count three-fifths of slaves as a person for the purposes of taxation and representation in the Congress.

The people of the region announced their independence and when the King found out delegates were forced to get involved. A delegates is someone who stands up and speak in behalf of a group or organization at a meeting or conference.

We need to write a
document declaring
our independence.
We should call
It the Declaration of Independence.
Will you
represent us?
Hi, My name is Lil' Jimmy
I'm going to tell you a story about a large region in the Middle East that fought against their king to declare themselves an independent nation.
Not long after writing the Articles of Confederation the people in the middle East decided they needed to think about forming
a stronger U.S federal government. This was called Anti-Federalism. A movement to help create a stronger U.S Federal government.
After the compromise the people of the large region in the middle East (The U.S) decided to write a series of supreme laws. These laws were called the Articles of Confederation. The Articles of Confederation declared them a national government.

Articles of
Confederation

Although the New Jersey Plan and the Virginia Plan were turned down at the Constitutional Convention the creation of the first Constitution took place and the
Three-fifths
clause was
accepted.

And that's the story of how the Middle East broke away from their king and became an independent region. A region now called the united States of America.
When the Constitution was written three Branches Of Government were formed.
1 Executive -The Executive Branch enforces the laws of the lands.
2 Judicial- The Judicial Branch works with the powers of the government.
3 Legislative- The Legislative Branch provides checks and balances.
